Dominance of Capillary Forces over Viscous Forces: Bond Number

The Bond number is the ratio of gravity forces to capillary forces and it is of great importance in vertical displacements.  The Bond number is especially useful for gravity assisted displacement processes and in centrifuge core analysis, and is often defined as:

Where, R is a characteristic length.  On occasion the permeability of the medium replaces R.
