ABSTRACT

A vertical CAT scanner was modified to perform horizontal scans. The scanner was mounted onto a tilting mechanism that allowed the scanner gantry to be positioned anywhere between 0° and 90° from the vertical position. The gantry itself was modified in a way that allows for good weight distribution and proper indexing while on horizontal position. The patient couch was discarded and substituted by a lighter sample holding mechanism.
