2016 Training Course Schedule for Engineers, Geologist and Petrophysicists, etc

(Calgary, AB) – January 13, 2016 – PERM Inc.’s 2016 schedule for training classes is listed below.  These are 2-day courses hosted in Calgary, Alberta, Canada that are well suited for Geologists, Engineers and Petrophysicists – or anyone wanting to learn more about reservoirs and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR).

ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY: Process and Mechanisms in Conventional and Heavy Oil Systems

  • Course Description:
    • The focus of many of the world’s oil fields is now moving to either improved/enhanced oil recovery from mature fields, or development of new unconventional resources, for which conventional methods such as waterflooding or primary recovery may not be possible.  As projects become larger, more expensive and vastly more complex, it is valuable to have an understanding of Enhanced Oil Recovery processes, and how they can be used to produce oil from these fields.  This course focuses on understanding where oil is located within a given porous medium, and developing EOR processes that are designed to target this residual oil.  The basics of trapping and mobility ratio are used to understand polymer floods, surfactant and alkali floods, and solvent floods.  This course also offers a unique insight into EOR in heavy oil and bitumen systems, and the challenges faced with recovering viscous oil in difficult reservoirs.
  • Price:
  • Course Dates:
    • May 19 & 20, 2016
    • Ocotber 6 & 7, 2016
  • Additional Course Details

UNDERSTANDING OIL RESERVOIRS: Reservoir Characterization by Combining Petrophysics and Core Analysis

  • Course Description:
    • Proper development of recovery strategies from oil & gas reservoirs requires a good understanding of the rock and fluid properties of which the reservoirs are made.  This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed understanding of porous media fundamentals – specifically how oil or gas is trapped or mobilized in porous media.

In addition, participants are given significant exposure to the field of core analysis, and are given the tools to understand the value and the challenges associated with taking measurements from core.  The overall objective of this course is to provide participants with the means to understand how a complete petrophysical package (logs, routine core analysis and special core analysis) can be used to increase the value of their properties.
  • Price:
  • Course Dates:
    • June 23 & 24, 2016
    • October 20 & 21, 2016
  • Additional Course Details

UNDERSTANDING OIL RESERVOIRS: NMR as a Tool for Reservoir Characterization

  • Course Description:
    • Low field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) is a unique petrophysical tool that has been gaining significant exposure as a tool for understanding the properties of petroleum reservoirs.  NMR tools and measurements are now commonly available to the Industry, in the form of both bench top (laboratory) and field (logging) applications.  NMR tests are non-destructive, and can yield a tremendous wealth of information about both the reservoir and the reservoir fluids, all in a single measurement.  This course is designed to provide participants with the necessary tools to understand how NMR works, and how to interpret spectra in different reservoir systems.  This is a very practical and pragmatic course, and is very focused on using examples and case studies to demonstrate concepts.  The goal of this course is for participants to come away with an understanding of how to interpret NMR spectra on their own.
  • Price:
  • Course Dates:
    • February 18 & 19, 2016
    • February 23 & 24, 2017
  • Additional Course Details
