Zulq Asks PERM:

Hello,

I have run samples for Resistivity Index and got a lot of inconsistent data for the ‘n’ values.  The data does not make sense.  We have re-run samples and got different data that also confuses the situation.  We would appreciate if you could advise us on possible solutions?

Thank you,

Zulq

Dr. Jonathan Bryan from PERM Answers:

Hi Zulq,

From the data, it is difficult to know exactly why the “n” values are so variable.  Ideally we would want to do the following:

  • Check the water-saturated values to see how well formation factor tracks with porosity.
  • Check the resistivity measurements themselves and make sure that they had good contacts in their measurements.

We would be happy to review the lab reports and data that you have.  We could evaluate your data and give you a memo report in just a few hours of our time (i.e, 8 hours or less).

Regards,

Dr. Jonathan Bryan
